I did it. I rode in the little 500. My team (Chi Phi) qualified 32 in this years race to end up 21st. it was a lot of fun and something ill never forget. i was really hoping to have seen the race by now, but i dont think it is available yet. i had an interview with student enrollment services to work with SQL and relational databases, but I am not sure if i am going to get the job.

Summer Work

I had an interview for a job with Student Enrollment Services this morning. They are looking for someone who can use SQL to help them make reports. since I had learned how to use SQL in I308 Information Representation, I thought I would give it a shot. The interview went well, and I hope to hear from them soon. It would be good for me to get real work experience before I graduate.
On another note, I did not get the internship I was planning on getting tyhis summer. I applied for WonerLab, which is a children's museum in Bloomington. I was hoping to get an internship as a web developer, but I guess they cannot all be winner.

Windows on Mac

With the release of Boot Camp last week, Apple made it possible to dual boot an Intel Mac with Windows XP and OS X. I never thought that I would see Apple endorse such a thing. the new Intelimacs as they are known are pretty cool, and fast as anything else. I think that by allowing windows users to use XP on Macs, Apple will be able to sell more computers. I think this is also a step toward bluring the lines between mac software and windows software. What if in the future, all programs were able to be run natively on all computers, sounds like we are getting closer to ubiquitous computing.

Secure VoIP

I am starting to wirte a paper about security issues surrounding VoIP. Since VoIP is going to be a huge market whether the telecomms want it or not, I figured I had better know a little about it. I am going to research what current laws govern VoIP as well as what current tactics are being used to eavesdrop on VoIP calls. I also plan to look at what rights the government has when it comes to monitoring VoIP calls. Enough for now...

whos space? mySpace

I finally created a page on mySpace for one reason, to contact a small group of firends. Since none of them use AIM the only way for me to stay in tough in real time is to become myspace friends. However, I did not provide any real information in my profile, because I do not know who is getting there hands on it. I hear that police are combing myspace now looking for perverts that like little kids. I might post a link later.

Stories of a blog farmer.

YES! Chi Phi bike team made it into the Little 500. This is very exciting for me because I am in fact on the team. Only downside is that I also have three term papers due around the same time as the race. Doesn't leave time for much else, considering I also have a job. Oh well, it will all be over in a few weeks. Anyways, I took a CSS STEPS trainging course this morning. It was pretty cool. I am going to try and incorporate the things I learned into my IU myPage. I think this will be a good thing to show possible employeers. I am currently working on getting an internship with WonderLab in Bloomington for the summer. This will be my first summer to stay in this awesome city since I about ten years old. Time to get to work.

lost in a thick blog

Recently started a myspace page. I did it to join one group to communicate w/ my friends. I've heard a bunch of news about people being arrested for trying to hook up with little girls through myspace. Sounds like it is no to hard to catch somebody doing it, maybe people should learn the technology before they try to exploit it. I am now able to SSH my laptop from campus computers and have access to the contents of my drives. This could be very useful at times. That is enough for now.

Spring Break

I will be going to florida to ride bikes next week. Should be a good time, except that i will not have a garunteed connection to the internet. This could mean that i will not have the ablity to check my email or banking. However, I am going to start looking for poeple that have done some war-driving in the area and see if I can find some locations with unsecure wireless routers. Before when Ive gone on vacation, I have taken my laptop and looked for signals while driving. I found that going to hotels is almost a sure shot. This time, I will have ethereal installed, so I can do some packet sniffing. Maybe I'll come across something valuable?

Another day, antoher shitty blog

Last week was IU Sing, it was my third year to participate in it. I do it just so I can play the drums in front of 3000 people at the IU Auditorium. Our group did not place which does not bother me, because I know I still rocked hard.
This week is rookie week for Little 500 riders, so I have to be at the track everyday when I'm not in class or at work. I am getting really excited about the race. I have not competed in any structered event like this in a long time. I have never competed in a race, but I'm not worried, it is all about going faster than the rest.

Blogging is Horrible

Today I found a way to load and play the original Zelda while I am at work. Spent a solid 2 hours getting paid to play today. Awesome. I installed the emulator on my flash drive so I can play it anywhere, except on my mac.

Class as a game

School is not a game. I don't think it is appropriate to think of school as a game. If school is to prepare us for the future, likening school to a game simply devalues our existence. I think of the class as a tool, allowing me to use it if I want, to do things I might not be able to with out the tool. More on this later.

Wasting time at work

I work as a Student Technology Consultant. Sounds interesting, and looks good on my resume as an Informatics student. However, in reality I very seldom have to help a customer with a "hard" problem. The job does give me a bunch of experience working with applications and systems that I usually wouldn't. Also, since I work for UITS, I get offered a lot of IT training courses for free. The pay is good, and the job is open to any student that has almost any level of computer skills. I hit the jakcpot this time.

Easy Money

I recieved an email about a data entry job, that I was qualified for. I replied to the message saying thatI was interested and wished to learn more. When I recieved the next email it had a link to a website, that claimed I would make between 200 and 900 dollars per week by doing simple data entrty for only a hour or so a day. The job entailed familiarizing yourslef sith companies, so you could make and post adds for them. There was also a 50 dollar membership fee. Needless to say I am not going to pursue this job any further, because I think it is a scam. However, it led me to wonder how they got my email address. I work for Student Technology Consultants, but I don't think they would solicite my email. In any case, I don't think it is plausible to make hundreds of dollars sitting on your ass for an hour a day on the internet.

I think I will be installing Linux soon!

Linux in the Information age.

I done a bit of research lately about putting linux on my ibook g4. I have never really used linux, I am quite familiar with unix. So my goal is to be able to boot my laptop into either Tiger, or some Linux distrobution. I will keep you up to date on my progress.

Comic Life

I started using Comic Life, suggested by the Thom. It is a pretty cool program, very well designed, and easy to use. I am planning on suggesting that my group uses it for our presentation later in the semester. Oh, and it was my 22nd birthday last weekend. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

First Entry

I really do not like blogs. I really do not like blogs. I don't want to read anybody's blog, and I don't want to spend time createing a blog someone else would want to read. So sorry if you read this.
